Trusting God's Timing
Lent on the Run — Day 33
For my thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways my ways, says the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.

If only we had a direct line to God—clear thoughts, unmistakable direction, and a glowing path forward. Like a video game with markers and explainer pop-ups (or that guiding line that tells us exactly where to go), we could know our exact path and timing. But that’s not how it works.
Understanding God’s purpose takes discernment. It means listening in silence, listening to others, and even learning to live in the mystery. And, I’m not going to lie to you, that mystery can feel especially frustrating when we’re craving clarity.
Timing, in particular, is tough. Whether it’s in life, faith, or training for something big, we want to know we’re on schedule, on track, doing the right things at the right time. But just like trusting a good coach, trusting God’s timing requires surrender.
Sometimes, even when the coach says we’re ready, we flame out. That doesn’t mean the coach failed us—it means we’re still growing. The same goes with God. Trusting in divine timing doesn’t mean everything will go smoothly. It means we trust that God’s plan is ultimately for the good of creation—and we have a role in that goodness.
This kind of trust isn’t passive—it’s active. It’s showing up, listening deeply, holding grace close, and trusting that even when we don’t have all the answers, we are being led.
